I taught Media Studies for nearly 25 years, most recently in Cambridge, as Head of Media Studies at Long Road Sixth Form College , with one of the largest cohorts of students taking Film and Media in the country, before taking up a senior management post at the college. I led the course team for the new Creative and Media Diploma as part of the Cambridge area Partnership consortium. I am a senior examiner for Media Studies A level and have co-written specifications for the subject. I now do freelance consultancy work and teach part-time on the MA in Creative and Media Education at the Centre for Excellence in Media Practice at Bournemouth university.
I am working on a three year doctoral research project about the experience for students and teachers of media studies at A level. I was blogging my progress on this site, but have realised that it’s not the best way for me to work! I have done some conference presentations an submitted some journal papers and am currently undertaking a pile of field work…
